Automata

You are sentient automata, far beyond the time of human existence, exploring a dying realm of electronics and abstract life. The craftwork of the architecture and planes itself derived from the automation of similar beings; delegated tasks through long forgotten factories.

Automata is a multi-session, tabletop roleplaying game focused on the relation between bodies and identity.  One player is a GM, describing the world and guiding the narrative. The other players are Unchained Denizens, miniature robots following orders from ancient and forgotten creators. Players roll dice of all shapes to determine the outcome of a challenge; descriptive flourishes are rewarded with more dice to roll.  They are rewarded with what armor & components can be salvaged from fellow fallen denizens. The Microcosm is mostly vast and empty, but within can be found powerful elemental forces and civilizations of automata. Strange beings scavenge the world for purpose and identity.

This game includes three pdfs:

• a 28 page zine formatted for 8.5"x5.5" (can be printed with 2 pages on 1 sheet of letter paper)
• Character sheets are double-sided 8.5"x5.5". Each player needs one.
• The "abilities insert" is a list of example armor & components.
